Waiting for Your Friend to load Doodle
Statement:
Doodle is one of the auxiliary tools of the Yahoo Messenger program, allowing two users who are using Yahoo Messenger to draw simultaneously. The Doodle window is very small (8.5 by 12 cm), with only three drawing tools and a very limited color palette. The minimal features of this tool force the user to focus solely on expressing their idea, free from concerns about technique, resulting in the design appearing in its simplest and most basic form.
One of the beautiful aspects of Doodle is that you can only draw in it when both users are online. In other words, interactivity is an inseparable part of this tool. The second person's participation in the work, the events that occur during the process, the conversations exchanged while working, and the atmosphere created by the words and images between the two people all play a fundamental role in creating the final piece.
This collection is the result of over a year of my work with this tool. Initially, it was more about play, but after a while, it became a tool for my work. Out of countless pieces, I selected one hundred to present in an exhibition. I enhanced their quality as much as possible for printing, then printed them digitally in their actual size.
The expression that arises from the limited tools, colors, and the small working space, along with the joy of playing with design and subject matter, introduced me to a different kind of design, the influence of which is still evident in my work.
